It is estimated that more than 25,000 people visited the Science Tent at this year’s Eisteddfod festival, which included an Institute of Physics (IOP) stand designed to give young and older visitors alike a positive taste of science.

A competition based around NASA’s Mars exploration robot, Mars Rover, and an eye-catching model of Beagle 2, a British landing space craft that was sent to Mars in 2003, were two of the highlights at the IOP stand.

Angharad Thomas, national officer for the IOP in Wales, said, “I wanted to show people that science is a voyage of discovery, it’s not an end point.  It’s how you get there and being enthused about it on the way.”
